FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • As the relationship between the client and provider is the primary factor in change, our initial sessions will be spent getting to know each other and building trust. That’s not to say the work won’t start immediately; it will. And the work will start wherever you’re at. We will create specific goals and work collaboratively towards obtaining those goals.

  • Yes! I will not share any of the content of our sessions without your written, expressed permission. However, as I am a mandated reporter, the limitations to this confidentiality include: court order, suspicion of harm to self or others or abuse of minor, elder or disabled individual.

  • I have extensive experience working with clients who experience chronic mental health conditions. This includes: major mood disorders, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, attachment disorders (personality disorders) as well as anxiety, eating disorders and OCD. I also very much enjoy working with the student population and young adults who have experienced an interruption to their life due to their mental health experiences. I also enjoy working with families of these clients to help them set boundaries, improve communication and build healthier relationships.

  • Yes. I offer in person sessions at my office in Arlington, MA or sometimes out in the community or in client’s homes. I also offer tele-health sessions via HIPPA compliant videoconferencing software.

  • I currently do not accept any public or private health insurance plans for services. The reason for this is that it allows us to engage in the work without insurance companies’ limitations. It also can avoid establishing a diagnosis in your medical record. If you have out of network benefits through your insurance plan, I am able to provide you with a “superbill” to submit to your insurance for any reimbursement you may be entitled to. I recommend you contact your insurance carrier directly to find out what, if any, reimbursement you may receive from our sessions.

  • The cost of services depends on a number of factors, including the established session fee (typically $200), frequency of services, if travel time is involved and duration of treatment. It is impossible to know ahead of time the frequency and duration of sessions. You and I will work collaboratively to determine this on an ongoing basis. You can receive an estimate of service costs as described below.

As of January 1, 2022, under Section 27-99B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan of coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
